Don't get beat by the heat or chilled on the beach!
Plan your vacation for the type of experience, region and climate. Our summers are hot and humid, which make a day at a theme park an exhausting (but rewarding) experience.
The
summers are hot! However, they are ideal for water sport activities. The
warm waters are perfect for swimming, diving, and snorkeling. The
summer sun is intense, so *be sure* to use good sunscreen, and wearing
a hat is a good idea while fishing. And, don't forget the wet and wild water parks! Consider Orlando's Wet n' Wild,
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, and Tampa's Adventure Island. These
places are awesome!
If you do go to the theme parks in the summer, go early, take a break at the peak heat in the afternoon and return early evening. This is particularly effective if staying at one of the resorts or hotels near your attraction(s). Also be aware that many attractions have shorter
operating hours during winter months.
The summer also brings its rainy season, particularly in the central
regions. Most of this rain activity is in the form of afternoon
thundershowers and is usually over in an hour or two, but they can
be quite intense, so be prepared.
For many, a visit during our fall (autumn) weather is ideal for
water sport activities as the water is still warm but the days are
not so hot. Golfing is active year round, but summer, mid-days
are difficult for golfers.
Winters
are comparatively mild and represent a good time for active, non-water
activities and outdoor activities (although some accustomed to cold
climates find our beaches just fine in the winter!). Winter
also represents the peak tourism season for most areas bringing larger
crowds and longer lines at popular destinations and theme
parks.
Regardless, pick your favorite season and enjoy the best
Florida has to offer. See our Florida
Weather page for more information regarding seasonal weather.
