Orlando's Nickelodeon Resort - One Florida visitor's account

I had the pleasure of going to Orlando’s Nickelodeon resort recently.  If you are looking for a vacation within a vacation, this is your place.

The best pull for this place is the outdoor water slides.  There are two pools to choose from, so you will never get bored.  One is the Lagoon pool the other is the Oasis pool.

The Lagoon pool offers a zero depth entry, which is perfect if you are bringing along any little ones.  They can play under the water umbrella, or squirt unsuspecting guests with the interactive water cannons.

The four story interactive water tower with its seven flumes and water slides is amazing.  Beware of the bright orange Nickelodeon bucket overhead.  You never know when it will tip its 400 gallons of water down.  There are daily scheduled poolside activities done up Nickelodeon style.  Here you can hula hoop with the best of them or get slimed.  If all that activity makes you hungry stop by the Pool Bar & Grill for some hamburgers, hot dogs, or maybe a salad.

The Oasis pool is an Olympic style lap pool with two slides that drop you into the pool.  They have a “splash zone” for the pre-school crowd, and a nice sandy play area a few feet away.  The Oasis pool is the quieter side, but it is still fun.

If you want to take a break from the water you can play a nine hole round of mini golf, or shoot a few hoops in the basketball court.  Besides all this, there is an arcade, Studio Nick where family interactive shows take place, a mall complete with a food court, bingo and much more.

Nick resort offers a Kids Eat Free program for kids 12 and under.  It is only for the restaurant, and not for the food court, but there was a big selection for even the pickiest eater.

If you love SpongeBob or Dora the Explorer you don’t want to miss the character breakfast.  You need to make reservations, but it is definitely worth it if you are a big Nickelodeon character fan.  The breakfast is buffet style, and the Kids Eat Free program doesn't apply here, but the kids love it.  Don’t forget your camera, because there are plenty of photo opportunities.

The sleeping accommodations are another perk.  They offer 2 and 3 bedroom Kidsuites, suites with whirlpools, and 1 bedroom kitchen suites.  If you are used to the traditional one-room resort rooms, these rooms will seem like heaven.  It is like a small apartment.  The kids have their own room with bunks or twin beds, a 20” TV, and a video game system.  You can rent games from the arcade for a small fee.

The family room has a pull out sleeper sofa, 25” TV, table and chairs, mini kitchen with a refrigerator, sink and much more.  It is truly like a home away from home.

If you are in the Orlando area it is a must see.  It will be a dream vacation come true.  You won’t be disappointed, and I am sure you will be looking ahead to plan your next trip back.
