Further
to the east along Atlantic Boulevard is an area known as "The
Strip". Here the mix of locals and visitors among the many
hotels, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs create a lively beach-front
party scene.
Port Everglades to the south is one of the larger cruise
ship ports in Florida. From here many luxury cruises
lines are available ranging from overnight cruises to "nowhere" to
popular week long cruises to the Bahamas, and the Leeward and Windward
Islands in the Caribbean.
Several
trolleys are available for getting around and seeing Fort Lauderdale.
Another excellent way to see Fort Lauderdale is from the many miles
of picturesque waterways. River cruises and water taxis are
a good choice for seeing Fort Lauderdale from this perspective.
Water Taxi services over a hundred miles of waterways, picking up
passengers on call, from homes, clubs, restaurants, and attractions.
Bahia-Mar Yacht Center is a large marina from where deep-sea
chart boats can be seen bringing back their fresh catch of the day.
Day and night sightseeing excursions and fishing charters are available
from Bahia-Mar.
